Will Reinstating Kings Decree Make Fillianore Talk to Me Again

refusing to give whatever explanation whatsoever but midir, filianore, and shira all have fucked one another at some point, maybe all at once, who knows, send post.

My friend and I were playing fuck marry kill with Soulsborne characters and she gave me nigh 10 combinations of different characters. I answered them ane by one and in one of them I somehow ended up choosing Shira to be my married woman. I jokingly remarked that maybe if I chose her, the judicator giants wouldn't try to murder me (since I will no longer exist a random outsider who somehow invaded the ringed city). Then that remark somehow evolved into something more, as I started wondering about different aspects of life in the ringed city and the ending of the DLC and DS3 in general and ended up with a whole thread of headcanons about the showtime buss, the union ceremony, the solution to the situation with the burn down catastrophe and an adoption of a pet and a kid. I still tin can't understand why I was and so not bad on continuing imagining that state of affairs since I haven't really considered Shira to exist a waifu material before.

seriously though, shira is, i call up, one of the best fucking characters in DS3. ringed metropolis she wins hands-down.

the unhinged femininity? the complexity? the misunderstanding?

her motivations are based on incomplete information, given to her past people who raised her as a tool and crafted her out of pieces of their own souls every bit a subservient. and yet, beyond the age of gods, she's 1 of only three survivors beyond the pygmies, searching an endless desert ceaselessly for vengeance against the one who ruined it all.

she'south the only creature crafted from low-cal - a servant of light!!! terrified of the night, even as she strikes fear into it! - who binds herself WILLINGLY to information technology and accepts the abuse in order to continue it from spreading, locking herself in with the mad rex that she cannot kill, corrupting her own mind, to go along him prisoner. even artorias' corruption was an unwilling i.

as well i'm gay as all hell, and she impaled me on a cantankerous-spear while wearing a torn dress and a tiara. she'due south a miracle archer, guys. where's the love?

INKTOBER 17 -  The Spears of the Church, Dark Souls iii

The Spears of the Church watch over the Princess' slumber, and when the church is compromised by a trespasser, the Judicator summons them equally loyal spirits to eliminate the threat. Loyal spirits summoned as Spears of the Church are granted a approving of protection.

Those who protected the dream of Princess Filianore were Judicator Argo with Halflight, Spear of the Church and Shira, Knight of Filianore.

The Spears of the Church is a covenant in Dark Souls 3. It was introduced in The Ringed City DLC.

xxx notes · View notes

I played DS3. I speculated on DS3. Then The Ringed City came out. This is a bluster taken from a chat with @heliicon and posted with slight modifications for @bellringerkat'due south amusement.

Ok and then, first of all, lemme reiterate for anybody who hasn't been subjected to my rants yet, the Gods and all connected directly to them are fucking liars.

The Regal Everloving Fuck is up with Midir ? Some other dragon up and about that works for the Gods ? Get off my dick. What on earth was Gwyn doing during the war, pulling favoritisms left and right for anybody who was gracious plenty to requite their ass out ? Wouldn't surprise me anymore considering how many half dragon children are apparently on the Gods' bloodline. And speaking of which, who the hell is Shira ? "Daughter of the Duke", what Duke, Seath ? Tseldora from DS2 ? Another totally unrelated dude that merely spawned out of nowhere ? Bull shit.

The Church building of Filianore makes no sense. She would have had to be there for fucking forever, even before Gwyndolin probably, so that "youngest daughter" thing is literally meaningless. Why is she sleeping ? Why is that a problem ? Nothing changes if yous wake her up ! You get transported to a totally different time and place, in which she's dead like no ane e'er woke her up in the kickoff identify, so what is the difference ?? Plus that is conspicuously an alternate dimension just similar the Untended Graves, and even if information technology wasn't- the "existent globe" is ALREADY in ruin ! "Her slumber is for the sake of others", her slumber is an ass pull that stinks of callback.

How the hell are the paintings even supposed to exist fabricated without the Dark Soul, which, would you expect at that, is kept locked away in a place that would be impossible to access unless Filianore was awakened, simply that's a lie also cause Shira does it, and she'south a fucking liar also considering she said she was a "captive" and yet she only waltzes out similar information technology's nobody'south fucking business and goes to mope in the footling chapel next to Gael's murder ground, AND WHERE WERE You FOR THAT I BATTLE, BITCH ? Oh, and how did Gael even get in that location before us if we had to wake Filianore upwards for him ? He couldn't do it himself, otherwise why assistance the Ashen One all the style downwards ?? And if he could, it just proves my point that her sleep is totally useless.

Also the more I think about the "Rex's Decree" and more it stinks. Is Gwyn the King ? Would make sense, and all the same. Why non the God's Decree. Shira calls him God, the pygmy bitch at the offset calls him God. Meanwhile an entire gathering of pygmy royalty is having a picnic in the next dimension. Even Shira's weapon mentions a "mad rex" born of the pygmies. Something's fishy and it's not Kos this time. THE FUCKING PURIFICATION MONUMENT Can REINSTATE THE DECREE. WHAT DOES IT DO, WIPE OUT THE Retentiveness OF THE Cadaverous ONE CLEANING THE Floor WITH HALFLIGHT'S SCRAWNY Donkey ?

Londor culture thrives on the Ringed Metropolis'south simbolism and nonetheless not 1 pilgrim fabricated it at that place, they but all decided to digievolve into Screaming Holy Gatlings just before the drop. Good fucking piece of work, everyone, Yuria would be proud. What the hell happened to the Sable Church building anyway ? Wasn't Friede's presence kind of a big plot point ? Wasn't there supposed to be a third sister ? Nosotros don't know. The devs don't know.

And we haven't fifty-fifty touched the subject of how information technology all merely Looks Like Oolacile, statues of suspicious Gwyndolin-looking figures, birch trees and Humanity Juice Pool included. Or how the Judicators drop holy water grenades blessed by the Queen of Lothric, yet we still accept no thought who she's supposed to be. And don't give me that "it'due south Gwynevere !!" bullshit, because if yous were Gwynevere you wouldn't escape from a self-centered imperial bastard connected to Seath who abuses his children but to come back ages later to have kids with a self-centered royal bounder connected to Seath who abuses his children. What nearly Rosaria, or Gertude ? Lost to time, but hey, sexy outfits.

This DLC is a mess. This lore is a mess. The Deep is coming. Get your tickets and accept a proficient run, I'll be back in Anor Londo cutting the dick off of every Gwyn's statue with my teeth.

Canon Divergent AU:  Gael has to fight not but the Cadaverous I, simply also Shira, Halflight, Zoey, the Moaning Knight, Witch Zullie and Lapp. Who would still accept had troubles beating him hadn't Filianore intervened from afar.

For the pygmies, who took the dark soul, the Great Lord gifted the Ringed Urban center, an isolated place at world's end, and his beloved youngest girl, promising her that he would come for her when the day came.

One time, a mad king was born to the pygmy royalty and Shira, knight of Filianore, put him to remainder. But Shira'southward cross spear, unable to kill the undying king, simply pinned itself to him. Shira delivered them together to the darkroom, where she stayed and held them close.

Band City reinforces the Nighttime is Bad theming. The urban center was gifted to the Pygmies by Gwyn while seeling them abroad, while at the aforementioned fourth dimension supported by elements of his government like Shira (created by Seath- "girl of the Duke'), Filianore, and the Church.

The Ringed Knights (run into Set descriptions) wore armor sealed by the god considering if unsealed, they become basically Darkwraiths, and Midir fighting against the Dark made him insane, corrupted by it.

Then as fuck upwards every bit it was to trap the Pygmies there, everything keeping it from rotting into madness and sand is Gwyn-alligned. As shortly as they loose control of the state of affairs, it tanks. You get murk men and locusts. It continues the issue that nosotros don't get to see the benefits of the Dark, even on its own turf.

@royal-dragonslayer-ornstein -- ;

It was late when Yuria's shoulder was rustled, the handmaiden jarred awake every bit she institute the grave features of her female parent gazing back, pale every bit the white hair they shared. Shira stepped back every bit Yuria immediately sat upwards in bed, usually sent messages from one of the folio boys that flitted through the palace. That her lady mother would be the i to practice it sent a bolt of anticipation racing her spine. "Arise, daughter mine. Awaken thy alter and gear up, for verily hast the Lord Helm called us all to courtroom." The woman didn't question information technology whatever further as she slipped from Yuria'due south small quarters side by side to the princess, a single ray of torchlight flickering over the threshold. Without forestalling a moment more did Yuria hastily do her snowy locks in a loose complect and dress herself in a long, plain skirt, a loose blouse, bustier, and slippers before rushing through to Filianore's quarters.

The princess awoke reluctantly, but being such a sweetness daughter did she comply rather demurely, broad, pale blue eyes worried even in the dim candlelight. "Yuria, why ever fine art we enkindling and so before the sun's rising? ...Mine middle fears for what is to come, my friend," Filianore confided anxiously as Yuria helped her dress in her gown and kitten heels, and while the princess was radiant even then early on in the morn, it still bode ill on them. When they were finally ready and escorted by a detail of the Spears of the Church, Yuria'due south eyes flickered to Halflight who could only pass on a strained grinning before continuing, glad that she wasn't solitary in her sentiments, at least.

Heavy-eyed nobles--many of whom had been also weary to care to apparel beyond a robe to preserve their modesty--assembled in the throne room with a heavy feeling of anxiety rippling in the gossip and afeared whispers. Seated at a place of honor to the right of Gwyn's throne did the princess dabble anxiously with the hem of her sleeves, picking at the intricate lace of her silk gown. Yuria appeared not much improve for wear, seated to her left while Shira and Halflight commanded seated further to Filianore's right. A herald called for their quiet and attention, announcing that the Helm of the Lord's Knights--since a defunct and abandoned order--would appear shortly.

Yuria held her breath and Filianore's hand, the princess squeezing back every bit onetime friends would.

Gwyndolin/Darkmoon Knightess; Yoel/Yuria (platonic); Laurentius/Queelana; Henryk/Eileen; and Halflight/Shira.

Gwynnie/Knightess7 = I similar information technology, would read a fanfic with them if it was well written.

I like to call up of them as the more chaste and platonic version of Gwynstein. The undyingly loyal champion beloved past her benevolent God )//v//(

Yoel/Yuria4 = I could see why others like it, kinda cute I suppose.

My Yuria send is already taken by another, just I could run across them every bit affectionate friends.

Laulana7 = I similar information technology, would read a fanfic with them if it was well written.

I don't have strong feelings well-nigh them, but I can encounter it work (the aaaaangst tho) and I'm e'er a sucker for Pyromancer ships :3

Henleen8 = I REALLY like this ship but it wouldn't work out in canon.

This was ane of my first BB ships before I jumped on the Gayleen bandwagon, and I used to recollect Viola was their daughter LOL I feel like they could have a really interesting relationship, fifty-fifty if not in a romantic way.

Halflight/Shira5 = It's alright, I transport it a picayune peradventure…

Again, non strong feelings, relatively new characters… I experience like their true allegiance would be toward Filianore (equally much equally I despise Filianore) and… not each other ? Not sure yet. I haven't figured out where they stand even so, but if I had a clearer idea mayhap I'd ship them !

Exercise y'all heed sharing some Gwyndolin headcanons? :3

I don't have many to be honest! Dolin's story is pretty self-explanatory and we know what happened between DS1 and DS3. Canonically, Gwyndolin was never killed/encountered by the Called Undead (or at least that that was killed was only an illusion :P) and at some point, he ruled over Irithyll every bit well equally Anor Londo before Aldrich and Sulyvahn ruined it all. The details, as usual, are obscure every bit hell but that's the general gist.

I have more headcanons about Yorshka and Sulyvahn in fact than I have for Gwyndolin himself. I like to think that Yorshka is indeed his sister (some people doubt it or like to think that she's a reincarnation of Priscilla or something on that line) but that the both of them were not built-in in the traditional sense of the word just created past Seath on Gwyn's 'committee'. For what end, I have absolutely no thought. Gwyn'due south motives make sense to me just if I ignore 90% of the contradictions only that's a topic for some other mean solar day. Yorshka's absence from the original game can exist hands explained by saying 'she hadn't hatched yet' considering I practice like the idea of crossbreeds to be born from eggs, just like dragons and many reptiles. They all have something of Gwyn, like a fraction of his soul or power simply that doesn't mean that they are his 'biological' (over again, in the full general sense :P) children. Is is also possible that Seath created them in hole-and-corner and Gwyn found out about them too late and had just to roll with information technology, who knows.

My signal is that at some indicate Gwyndolin forged a pact with Velka and peradventure, in exchange for the safety of Priscilla and the yet-non-hatched Yorshka assured by the hole-and-corner and gentle *cough* Painted World, he formed the Darkmoon Knights (who hunt enemies of the Gods that are listed in Velka'southward book of the guilty) to protect Anor Londo in his male parent's and blood brother'due south absence.

Long story brusque, I do recollect that while Gwynevere, Filianore and the Nameless Rex (Gwynnant, for friends) are actual biological children of Gwyn, Gwyndolin, Priscilla, Yorshka AND possibly fifty-fifty Shira who looked a lot like Priscilla in the concept art are just loosely related to him because they were created with a portion of the ability of the Gods just that very ability got corrupted past their draconic one-half. Gwyndolin is probably the less perfect of the three since instead of a Dragon he looks like a ophidian (and snakes are 'imperfect dragons' in the lore) simply however possesses powerful magic and specifically, illusory magic that possibly connects him to Oolacile and makes me believe that he and Halflight were pals at some point and that he hanged around Oolacile for some fourth dimension before becoming a reclusive in his daddy's tomb.

I don't know, Dark Souls' lore is way more than foggy in my mind than BB's. I do like Gwyndolin a lot both design-wise and story-wise merely everything surrounding him (and Gwyn in full general) is so vague and was made even vaguer by TRC.

While I am rather downwardly on Night Souls 3 and Ringed City in particular, it does bring to calorie-free some very interesting facts near the One-time Gods of Lordran: namely, they're a bunch of rat bastards. This is a conclusion that has taken a while to brand. Dark Souls 1 plays the character of Gwyn and his cohorts rather shut to the chest, and information technology'south rather easy to detect yourself intrinsically aligned towards the Old Society. You're exploring their world, their architecture, you've got their Strange Ophidian Human telling you what to do, and your merely real dissenting opinion is bachelor from another Strange Snake Homo who chills out in a bottomless void and wants you to go and steal humanity from other undead and spread the Abyss. He's not exactly a trustworthy source, even if what he says may in that be example be technically true.

Of course, that's not to say that even back and so we're expected to make the terminal conclusion that Gwyn Is Practiced. The Lord of Darkness ending is certainly a thing, and there are clues and answers available to those who dig deep enough. What we don't learn until later installments is the depths of Gwyn's perfidity, which is breathtaking. Let's take it from the top and run into what the Lord of Sunlight got up to in his time equally King Shit of Everything.

In the get-go, historic period of ancients, dragons, fog, etcetera. I'm sort of bold that my readers accept a working understanding of how things went down or at very least accept watched that iconic Night Souls ane opening. Gwyn, Nito, and the Witch observe 3 lord souls in the Commencement Flame and Get As Gods, and challenge the Dragons. Honestly things are murky from the getgo: why kill the dragons? Dragons are shown time and time over again to exist at very to the lowest degree very Neutral creatures who won't really cause trouble until y'all do something beyond the stake. Sinh lived in harmony with the people of Shulva City until Yorgh shoved a stalagmite into his breast. The Aboriginal Dragon in Ash Lake will patiently bargain with you even afterward you cutting his dang tail off. The Dragon God (who is admittedly a faux dragon) just gives you lot a mist heart and sends y'all on your way. The kingdom of Lothric even managed to forge a working relationship with the lesser drakes who unremarkably spend their time breathing fire on important bridges.

There are dragons who are ambitious and hateful, only they all have meaning qualifiers. The gaping dragon was a mutated descendant of the survivors trapped in a sewer and warped by hunger. Kalameet was one of the few survivors of Gwyn'due south initial purge, known to be powerful plenty that fifty-fifty Anor Londo was hesitant to Kickoff Shit with him. He had every reason to exist angry. Drakes are lesser descendents with less well developed cognitive functions and are more like wild animals than dragons. The dragons living on Archdragon Peak are holdouts from the old state of war, and also maybe a dream, or fake, or in the past. Time is convoluted. It'due south convoluted!!!! The final dragon malefactor is, ironically, Seath the Scaleless, who betrayed his ain kind out of a exciting mix of petty jealousy and existential terror. There's no real concrete evidence virtually how the state of war with the dragons started, only it probably started with Seath'southward betrayal. Gwyn, earlier annihilation else, was a terrible coward, and probably would non take started a conflict he didn't have a strong reward in. A pocket dragon would have fit the pecker nicely.

So Gwyn had his trivial war and killed most of the dragons and started his pretty little age of fire. Merely wasn't there another Lord Soul in there? What nearly the titular Dark Soul? The Ringed City finally gives us an answer to this half dozen year erstwhile question about the easily forgotten Furtive Pygmy. There were four lord souls: A soul of Life for the witch, a soul of Death for Nito, a soul of Light for Gwyn, and, of form, a soul of Dark for the pygmy. This isn't new, Kaathe told us as much way back when. What the Ringed City elucidates on is what made the Night Soul different: information technology is essentially the soul that gave rising to the Abyss, and the creatures thereof, mankind chief among them. It also tells u.s.a. a little bit about what early man got up to. Equally it turns out, primordial human being actually helped out Gwyn against the dragons, though I can't say for certain if they did and then willingly or not. They forged their weapons in the abyss and marched off to battle.

This is where nosotros start to see Gwyn'southward true colors: the Lord of Sunlight was -terrified- of the darkness. Aldia and Gravewarden Agdayne alluded to this mortal fright in Souls two, but the Ringed City puts along obviously that upon seeing mankind and its abyssal weapons, Gwyn immediately freaked the fuck out and put a seal of burn on them. A seal of fire known better by another name: the darksign. The ringed knights and their armor all bear the black circumvolve highlighted by flame. This deed branded humanity with the undead curse and inextricably linked them to the age of fire, relegating them to, as Aldia put information technology, a "fleeting form." It seems that this, more than than the Witch's transgressions, is what he considers to exist the first sin. A mistaken interpretation from me, I suppose. At any rate, not merely did Gwyn practise this, he too decided to repay the humans who helped his encarmine conquest by wiping all tape of humanity's contribution to his efforts and walling off the pygmy lords in the Ringed City to incorporate the darkness.

When we consider that Gwyn is downright generous to all of his other friends and colleagues, giving them fragments of his Lord Soul and dukedoms and cities, we get the impression that Gwyn doesn't merely fright the darkness, he hates everyone and everything associated with it. A hypocrisy, of form, considering he came from it only the same, but every monarchy needs an underclass to rule. The Former Gods of Lordran draw from a polytheistic tradition constitute in Greek and Roman mythology where at that place might be gods in accuse of everything, merely that doesn't mean they care about y'all or are even very good at their jobs. In that location are, of form, many polytheistic religions and mythologies in the globe, merely the comparison here is salient considering Gwyn is an extremely Zeus-like figure. Ruler of gods, fomenter of rebellion confronting the former social club, hurler of thunderbolts, begetter of many children, and secretly kind of sucks actually oops. In the age of ancient greek mythology, the mode to live a happy life was really to practise your all-time to stay beneath the notice of the gods and for heaven'southward sake, try non to make them aroused. Much like the apologue of Samsara in Dark Souls 2, the pantheon of Lordran is not a one to ane transplantation of the Gods of Mount Olympus, but agreement some of the mythological and religious inspirations for the lore is useful and edifying.

In ancient Greece, the gods existed to be surrogates for the random whims of nature. If your gunkhole sunk, you must accept ticked off Posiedon. If your harvest was bad, y'all didn't devote enough of a cede to Demeter. In Lordran, even so, the gods existed as a surrogate for an oppressive and destructive ruling class. The Quondam Gods are likewise referred to as the Onetime Aristocracy or Old Monarchy fairly interchangeably, and Gwyn dealt in lordly titles like Male monarch, Princess, and Duke for scaleless friends of the family. The actions taken by the Lord of Sunlight and his progeny to artificially extend their dear age of burn, regardless of how harmful to the world and its people that historic period of burn was, mirrors the behavior of ruling classes from all times and places. Fire, after all, is disparity: oestrus and cold, life and expiry, light and dark... and haves and not have-nots. Gwyn rewrote (or at to the lowest degree, aggressively curated) history to exclude the achievements of mankind, devoted everything he had to their oppression, and spent every waking moment in fear of the darkness they represented. Gwyn embraced utter cocky-destruction over relinquishing his

ability to the rightful successors of the age of fire past linking the flame at the price of his ain life. Sugariness Shalquoir's description of Gwyn every bit a vainglorious liar is one of my favorite $.25 of dialogue in, well, anything ever. It's such an apt clarification of the grapheme. Much similar his counterparts in our reality, Gwyn's programme for the hereafter was to go out it to his children to clean up his messes. His children either did the best with

what they had, with a sorry, slavish devotion to How Things Used To Be (Gwyndolin, Filianore) or simply bounced to discover something better (Gwynivere). He even has his devoted grade traitor lackeys similar Shira and Midir. Shira is so desperate for a piece of the pie and Filianore's donkey she gladly sells out the entirety of her people and her ain well existence to be a fanatically loyal spear of the church. She's so deeply invested in the whole affair that she hunts the Champion of Ash downwardly to the literal ends of the world to attempt and exact vengeance for shattering Filianore's illusion. It's incredibly lamentable. I'll be less harsh on Midir because he was literally raised past the gods equally basically a hostage slash trophy from the Dragon War and probably didn't know whatever better, and certainly didn't take much choice. He didn't really accept anybody left to sell out. Somewhere forth the line he really pissed off the Milwood Knights. Peradventure. He seems like the best candidate for Abyss Dragon. Who knows!!! Lore!!!!!

I'grand sure a lot of people would find information technology heart-rolling that I'm reading leftist, class-conscious rhetoric into the globe of Dark Souls simply fuck those people honestly this is a pretty straightforward reading of the text. The slighted pygmy lords withal stew in the ringed city, angry that their promised dominion never came and cursing the name of the gods that betrayed them. They're forced to live in a beautiful lie, filled with monuments to the service and cede of the gods and their ain branding with the seal of fire, which is itself, a lie within a lie: the city has, in reality, sloughed away to grit, its resplendent nature maintained only by another illusion. The only existent intermission from our reality is that Gwyn and his ilk were punished and deposed past the very order they created. It'd be prissy if nosotros at to the lowest degree got that sort of karmic justice dispensed, but, well. The Ringed City ends by using the blood of the Dark Soul to pigment a new earth that we will withal never run into, which, again, seems to be a adequately straightforward allegory for revolution. Where Bad Santa Gael fits into this I'thou non really sure but that character is just kind of half baked. He's got a red hood. Reddish is the color of communism. Eh? Ehhhhh? I'll work on it.

The first Dark Souls was thematically open concluded plenty for a lot of unlike readings, merely the direction the sequels took retroactively narrow down the number of viable interpretations. My original read on Dark Souls 1 was that of a classical tragedy, of the downfall of corking people who tried to do skillful merely were ultimately undone by fatal flaws to their characters. The tale is nonetheless tragic, of course, only information revealed later on the fact makes that a ship I'chiliad non willing to go down with. Gwyn wasn't a tragic hero he was only a typical capitalistic dickheaded oligarch who happened to commission some actually squeamish and breathtaking architecture before lighting himself on fire on the pretense of elementary vanity, to the incalculable detriment of the rest of the world. For as much as I tin harsh on Night Souls 3, I think that there is definitely value in taking such a stand and saying "no really this entire mess is the the one-time lord'south fault seriously". It is peradventure non the most satisfying conclusion to it all, and the whole usurpation of burn bending remains vague to the point of meaninglessness, but The Gods Are Bougie Bastards is a narrative conceit that I can become behind.
